Join us for Lakeside Laps for Brain Injury Awareness, a run/walk fundraiser benefiting the Brain Injury Association Waterloo Wellington! We're seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help make this event a success. Your support will directly impact individuals and families affected by brain injuries.
Date: Saturday, June 7, 2025 Time: 9:30am Location: Columbia Lake, Waterloo
We need volunteers for a variety of roles, including:
Administrative Support Volunteer (2-4 hours per week on a per needed basis)
We are seeking a detail-oriented volunteer to assist with administrative tasks on an as needed basis, requiring just a few hours per week at our office. Duties include entering information from supplied lists into Excel, searching the internet for supplemental details, and making occasional phone inquiries to obtain necessary information.
If you’re organized, comfortable with technology, and want to make a meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you. Flexible scheduling available.
" Lidz On Kidz" Education Program Teach Kids About Helmet and Brain Safety! October - June
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to visit classrooms and give engaging presentations on the importance of helmet use and brain safety. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful impact by educating children on how to protect themselves while biking, skating, or engaging in other activities where helmets are essential.
What You’ll Do:

We will provide all the necessary training and materials. If you have a few hours to spare and want to make a difference, we’d love to have you on board!
Help us empower children with knowledge and make our community safer, one helmet at a time!
One on one technology coaching (2-3 hours per week on an as needed basis)
Are you tech-savvy and enjoy helping others?
We are seeking volunteers to work one-on-one with brain injury survivors, helping them better understand applications, programs, and general technology use.
This rewarding opportunity takes place at our office, where you’ll empower survivors with improving their digital skills while boosting their confidence and independence. The schedule is flexible.
"Lidz on Kidz" helmet giveaway (May and June annually)
Join us in making a difference! The Brain Injury Association is looking for volunteers to help distribute free helmets to children who may not otherwise be able to afford one at community events during May and June.
Each event requires just a few hours of your time. You can choose to volunteer at one or all of them—whatever fits your schedule!
Your time and effort will help ensure that every child has the protection they need to stay safe while biking, skateboarding, and more.

- Registration: Greet participants, distribute race packets, and manage waivers.
- Course Marshals: Guide participants along the course, ensuring safety and providing encouragement.
- Water Stations: Distribute water and refreshments to runners and walkers.
- Finish Line Support: Cheer on participants as they cross the finish line, hand out medals, and provide post-race snacks.
- Set-Up/Tear-Down: Assist with setting up before the event and cleaning up afterward.
- Medal Handout: Help to hand out medals to winners and all for participation.
- Event Photography: Capture memorable moments from the event.
- Parking Lot: Supervise and direct parking and participants to the path to the race location.
- Crowd Control: Making sure paths are clear and participants are where they need to be at correct times.
- Race Kit assembly and pick up: Help to put together the race kits and hand out to participants prior to event
- Make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by brain injuries.
- Be part of a fun and energetic community event.
- Gain valuable experience and skills.
- Enjoy the beautiful lakeside scenery.
- Receive a Lakeside Laps volunteer t-shirt.
