Here are some of the wonderful experiences our members have had with our program:
"I heard about the Brain Connect program in the fall. I filled out the form and Emily contacted me soon after. I was intimidated by the idea of getting a new computer and doing all the setup but Emily had everything set up for me before I got to the office so that the setup was quite seamless. She followed up a few days later after I'd had some time to try some things on my own at home, and helped with adjustments and accommodations I needed.
Having access to someone who seems confident and comfortable in this tech world, helped to reduce my anxiety over technology, which feels overwhelming now post brain injury. Moreover, with my vision issues, my screen time is limited which slows potential progress considerably. Without the program, I might still be trying to "climb that hill" ie buy a computer, all these months later." "I am so glad I joined this program and join the talks. The Google Nest has been so helpful with keeping my schedule sending me reminders and being able to look things up. I enjoy the tech talks a lot."

"Thank you for running this program. The device I received has helped me a lot with distance university courses."
"I really enjoy the Chromebook it's easy to navigate and easy to use. I'm using it for my psychology appointments online, as well as daily needs. I have it up when I craft and make cards and use it for inspiration online etc. It really is a great tool.
The set up was fairly straightforward! I enjoy the mouse as well, it makes using it so much easier. So thank you again so much. The Brain Connect program is so wonderful in making this all happen!!! I received a Geeni smart plug from BIAWW and that is awesome as well, I use it for my Christmas lights so I don't need to unplug it everytime!" "Our instructor was amazing, I learnt how to search the web. I learnt to use zoom so now I can see my family in Italy! This was a wonderful experience! Thank you so much Emily!"
"The Brain Connect program has helped me connect to the internet as my laptop is outdated and with the program, I was able to use the funds to obtain an iPad. It allowed me to join virtual appointments which helped tremendously during the pandemic. With the iPad I am able to learn new tricks, guide me with vision therapy, meditation, audio books, and assist me through appointments. Thank you to the sponsors of this grant as it is greatly appreciated!"
"I feel so very grateful for Brain Connect for my laptop as it has allowed me to continue with my medical appointments via zoom. As well as participate with programs offered through BIAWW and connecting with survivors! Without this support I feel I would have felt lost and alone through the pandemic!!
Many thanks to BIAWW and Brain Connect!!" |
"The only regret I have is that I never knew about the program sooner. Emily has been a Godsend, very approachable, outstanding communicator and excellent People person.
This is an invaluable program and I hope it will continue." "I wanted to say a huge thank you to the BIAWW Brain Connect Program for supplying me with noise cancelling ear buds which have been amazing in my crazy household to help me be calm and meditate on my journey of healing from my car accident 3 years ago. Thank you for all of your support."
"I just wanted you to know how grateful I am for the Brain Connect program. It has connected me with the group during one of the hardest times of isolation in the COVID-19 days. It has been a story teller when I cannot read myself in listening to my favorite books. It has been movie entertainment when I live alone and no one was allowed to visit.
I could not have put all this together without Emily Singh. She has made herself available at all times to assist in programs I could not understand how to put together and I am a computer major but with the brain injury can no longer understand how to implement simple instructions. Everything is done over the computer now days; job fairs, insurance, library, daily zoom meetings, smart plug setup, and with each one I need assistance to get me started. Thank you for supporting the Brain injury survivors. We are not alone." "I am a new user of the tablet. This was a very useful gathering but needed more time to learn. Loading games and zoom has been interesting. I am looking forward to joining the tech talks on Wednesdays to learn more."
"The brain connect program has given me a way to connect with my peers. Chats don't happen without a leader. The reason I know this is because when Emily needed to take a phone call, it started to feel uncomfortable without a leader. Chromebooks are really good. They are like an automatic transmission to a person who can't handle a standard. Standard being a Windows computer.
Without a guided resume chat I don't have any connection with people and I am alone i look forward to zoom chats. They helped my anxiety and depression. With the charts I feel connected to people who can help me. I like Emily because we can talk computers I use computers to learn and find ways to connect with everything. Having Lynda to talk to means everything to see faces." |
